If you are SCUBA diving, you need dive insurance. It's really that simple.
Being in a SCUBA diving capital, Florida Keys dive operations are exposed to an extremely large volume of divers. Every year we monitor the number of accidents in the 100 mile chain from Key Largo to Key West. The accidents are common and even increasing. Most employer offered insurance policies and general insurance policies exclude injuries arising from scuba diving. If you are injured in the water you may find yourself paying some very expensive medical bills, including multiple recompression chamber visits if needed. Scuba diver insurance such as policies offered by Divers Alert Network (DAN) are affordable and must be purchased before your trip.
At Key Largo Dive Center we highly encourage all divers booked through our dive shop to have DAN Insurance or equivalent.
Our students will be enrolled with DAN insurance for the length of their course(s) with a complimentary policy. Once your course is completed, you will have the opportunity to continue your policy.
DAN (Divers Alert Network) is a trusted name in the dive community, known for offering top-tier coverage tailored specifically to the unique risks of diving. In addition to accident insurance, DAN members also benefit from emergency medical services, travel assistance, and access to valuable resources such as safety courses and diving health research. With DAN insurance, you'll have reliable support wherever your diving journey takes you.
Primary Medical Insurance
Your primary medical insurance may exclude SCUBA diving as a hazardous recreational activity and/or may not provide coverage. If it does provide coverage, it may pay only a minimal amount for immediate first aid and may not cover recompression chamber treatment. Without DAN diver insurance there may be large out-of-pocket payments for deductibles and co-pays. These alone can total thousands of dollars.

Summer has arrived and it' time to get back in the water. It's not too late to think about "Diving Green" with the Key Largo Diver this season.
While other dive boats can drop 30 or more divers on a single dive site, The Key Largo Diver only puts 6 divers in the water with our Full-Charters. Think about the impact on the reef when you compare 30 divers to 6. Low environmental impact, minimal footprint, and eco-awareness is what the Key Largo Diver is all about. We are proud to be designated a NOAA Blue Star Operator "Committed to Coral Conservation." The fish appreciate it, the corals appreciate it, and the ocean appreciates it.
Most of our dives are conducted within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Federal regulations prohibit the touching, taking, damaging, or other disruptions to the fish, corals, turtles, and other wildlife within the Sanctuary. Key Largo Dive Center is a NOAA Blue Star member and as such we advise our divers on low impact diving guidelines in order to minimize their effect on this sensitive sanctuary.
The Key Largo Diver uses only a single high-efficiency diesel engine. Most larger dive boats that have two engines, burn twice as much fuel, and have a negative environmental impact. We use bio-fuel whenever it’s available. Nature is sensitive to human impact, let's all do our part to minimize this impact every opportunity we get.
